HandTales News Fall 2008, A Time for Change
Ode to
a Passing Storm:

The Promise ~
A storm is coming

The wind combing, untangles the heat
Leaves inside out
The sky holds promise of relief
Clouds fair warning
The stuffed day seeks welcome retreat

A dog trainer once told me that dogs are like most humans; they do not like change. During this highly charged political and financial climate where we are all wondering how the winds of change will impact our future, I thought perhaps exploring our relationship to change is a timely topic. And, I have had some recent dramatic shifts in my life so, for better or for worse, I may be a poster child for facing the unexpected and weathering as well as initiating change.

And, by the way, my dog DOES like routine and prefers to live in familiar patterns. How about you?

My Story, 2006-2008
As I share my recent dramatic shifts, I invite you to reflect on your relationship to change in your life. I speak of relationship, geographic and global change in my sphere.

I left my marriage of 30 years and sold my home 2 years ago. In July, I uprooted my self and my business and moved from California to Vermont. These certainly qualify as life scale changes, not unexpected in my 2nd Saturn Return. (See the resource section.) I have reclaimed my relationship to a natural world that offers dramatic change – from high humidity and mid 80 degrees full of thunder and light to bone chilling minus 10 and below full of bluster and might. And, finally, I have become more involved in the political scene and in vibrant political discussions. I am trying to reclaim my role as a change agent. Wait a minute. That’s what I do every day in my business as a Hand Analyst! Adding the political activist back in my life now seems right.

Change is Inevitable
We all know change is inevitable ~ deaths and births, marriages and divorces, career shifts, hurricanes, earthquakes, the seasons in general and the list goes on. Your body cells turn over 100% every 7 years. And, have you ever noticed changes in the lines, the color in your hands and the bend in your fingers? Everything in your hands except your fingerprints can change significantly as you experience life and your brain responds.

Take a few minutes to reflect on major changes in your life. Got the points in time in your mind or on paper? Were you blind sighted or were you the agent of change? What resources did you have to weather, recover or simply embrace this new path? The future holds all sorts of challenges and opportunities, how can you be better prepared to meet the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities?

Exercises and Tools for Healthy Change

Points in Time
What is Important?
Living Your Soul Purpose

Points in Time
Doing the exercise above, can help you look at these significant crossroads differently. You might find yourself saying, ahhh, there are no coincidences or ohhh, I really do resist change and I wait too long, or perhaps, yikes, I am addicted to change and I cannot seem to stay in one place or with one person for more than a minute!

What is most important?
Maybe we just have to give up a little and accept the impermanence of life, especially of stuff. Read the Buddhist and Hindu perspectives on impermanence. A Google search can get you to the basics. Order the DVD, The Story of Stuff. This gave me some important perspective; hope you find it so as well.
My niece recently asked her father, Dad, did you lose a lot? (She meant in the stock market.) His response was surprise. No, I have 2 healthy children, wonderful grandchildren, a house that is paid off, a fine community and my health. I have lost nothing.

Living Your Soul Purpose
So what is one thing that can remain constant, that we can count on in this impermanent world? Your Fingerprints. The Navajo Indians say, The Great Spirit breathes in the breath of life, and the tracks of that breath become our fingerprints. When you came into this life and this body, you had a map indelibly imprinted five months before birth. This map is in your fingerprints and it serves as your guide to a more fulfilled life and a tool for embracing and initiating change with grace and clarity.

The contemporary science of fingerprint analysis has deciphered the code found in these wave patterns on your fingertips. Once you discover your Life Purpose (highest potential), and develop a healthy relationship to your Life Lesson (core issue) ~ both found in this Soul Map ~ you will be better prepared for anything that happens in the future.

How do I find out more about my Soul Map?
You can take advantage of several things. Send me your fingerprints (I will show you how) and you will receive a 20-25 page LifePrints Report, buy the books that I recommend in the resources section and~or schedule a full Life Reading with me to determine how the whole story is unfolding in your life. No predictions, just planting you firmly in the present in preparation for your future.

We are facing significant changes on a global and most personal scale. In the short run, it appears that many are being affected deeply and negatively. Join me in seeing this as a world of new opportunity vs a world of unending challenge.

Peace.
